Will Writing Service

Making a Will is one of the most important things you can do to help you ensure that your estate is passed on in accordance with your wishes. If you do not have a properly drawn up Will you risk passing on your assets to those you did not wish to inherit and pay the taxman more than you wanted.

Why use a Solicitor to prepare your Will

Whilst we appreciate that there are a number of internet companies offering Will writing services, professional will writers and other unregulated providers, there are benefits of appointing a solicitor. A solicitor can draw upon their extensive and broader legal experience to ensure the best and most suitable arrangements can be put in place. Solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and have full indemnity insurance arrangements. So, if anything goes wrong you are protected. With many other organisations you not protected, and its unlikely that you will get the advice specific to your circumstances.

There are numerous reasons why a Solicitor should be appointed to prepare your Will. Certain circumstances necessitate getting expert legal advice. For example:

  • If your estate and the way you want to pass it on are complicated
  • If you have remarried and have children from a previous marriage
  • If you have property or investments based outside the UK
  • If there is a business involved
  • If you will be supporting someone with disabilities
  • If the estate is above the current inheritance tax threshold, inheritance tax advice can be sought and opportunities may well present themselves to minimise payment

  3. Superior Service. Where your affairs are complicated and you require specific legal advice we can advice you of the best course of action and prepare your Will to that affect.

The latter option is inevitably the best course of action. By consulting a qualified solicitor you can be assured that your financial affairs are all in order.
